-Facility Currently, central operations for OWLAD is located in a beautiful historic building in Old Salem, right next to the cemetery, God’s Acre.
We love the beauty and history of the current setting and are grateful for the partnership with the Old Salem historic settlement, but we are growing!
In addition to our main office at 455 S. Church St, we are leasing 2 additional locations in Old Salem to adequately support our Resource Center ministry and our Treasure Box ministry. Each of these initiatives needs adequate space for supplies, climate control, sorting, and packaging. Old Salem is beautiful, but our location can be difficult to locate and offers very limited parking for visitors. More convenient access for our volunteers and friendly client access is a high need. We are praying for a consolidated space in a safe accessible area, and with adequate parking.
-Property. We are encouraged by recent conversations with City staff about the potential for connecting our On Wings of Hope initiative with rather forgotten vacant lots in underserved neighborhoods in Winston Salem.
Recently, a local builder, who is also a mentor to one of our Hope house residents, has shared with us plans and a current example of new-construction low-maintenance “shot-gun” style houses with 3 to 5 bedrooms. He is offering to build these at efficient cost and the plan will easily fit on a 50’ city lot. These simple houses will be a rich haven for Gospel transformation through the ministry of On Wings of Hope. These houses will also fit right in the backdrop of the projected neighborhoods, and as we have already seen at our Men’s house on Bon Air Av., the full front porch on the house will be an inviting warm place for community engagement and Gospel fellowship for both our new residents and our new neighbors.
Please join us in prayer for the availability of vacant city lots in just the right place and partners to join with us in procurement, construction, mentoring, and life transformation through the continued ministry of On Wings of Hope.
-Funding. Although the area of faith-based grant funding is still very new to us at On Wings Like A Dove, we are both excited and grateful to God for the favor He has shown us thus far in 2022, with 2 approved grants from the Tom Davis Fund Foundation (for On Wings of Hope) and most recently from the Moravian Ministries Foundation (for Bibles for Inmates).
We are eager to learn more. Please pray for the volunteers on our team who will continue to research this new area for potential partnerships and who will be making application for grant funding for On Wings Like A Dove, with special emphasis on the On Wings of Hope initiative.

And I say, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest.”
