These authors have both kept a light in the window for the return of prodigal children. But they did not wait passively, helplessly wringing their hands, paralyzed by fear and despair. Instead, they battle for their children in prayer and trusting that, ultimately, almighty God would intervene, returning the prodigals to their parents’ arms. The enemy uses many worldly temptations to lure our young people away from their Christian valves and upbringing. Praying Prodigals Home reminds us that for those of faith, victory is always within our grasp and that our loved ones are eternally dear to His heart.

A Visit to the Youth Detention Center
Last month, several volunteers from OWLAD were privileged to go to our local youth detention center. We had been the month before and because another group could not go in October, we were offered the chance again. Continue reading “A Visit to the Youth Detention Center”
Face to Face with the Enemy
Seven years ago God called me into ministry to prodigals and their families with the passage in Isaiah 42: 6-7, “I, the LORD have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand; I will keep you and give you as a covenant to the people, as a light to the Gentiles [Prodigals], to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from prison, those who sit in darkness from the prison house.” Continue reading “Face to Face with the Enemy”
Free to be You
Once again, we got away on retreat to Lake James thanks to the generosity of Frank and Cindy Miller. What a beautiful place to be enveloped by God’s beautiful creation and majesty. Continue reading “Free to be You”
Fall Retreat
All of us have dreams in our hearts that seem too wild or unachievable. To pursue them could mean great gain, but it could mean great loss and pain. So, much like a rushing river whose power cannot be fully harnessed, we build walls to contain it, often without even knowing we are building them. Continue reading “Fall Retreat”
The Power of Prayer
Several years ago, I did the Experiencing God Bible Study written by Henry Blackaby and Claude King. The study changed my life. I fell in love with Jesus and developed a love for God’s Word. I also facilitated the study several times in a desire to help others realize that God wanted to have a personal relationship with all of us. Continue reading “The Power of Prayer”
Comfort Others
I am attending a class at my church that is equipping me to reach out in ministry to the sick, dying, homebound whatever the need may be. Last night the Pastor shared from the 2 Corinthians passage above. Continue reading “Comfort Others”
Bible Study Report Oct 2013
We were blessed with the study “Lies Women Believe And The Truth That Sets Them Free” by Nancy Leigh DeMoss in discovering lies – that most of us have been clueless, such as “I Just Can’t Take Any More.” Have you ever said that? I have and now I realize I was allowing myself to be deceived by the enemy. The enemy doesn’t care what we believe, as long as we don’t believe the truth!
